Teide National Park
Volcanoes, lava fields & alien landscapes

Visiting Teide National Park feels like entering another planet. In the middle of Tenerife, a short drive from Santa Cruz, a world of volcanic rock formations, vast lava fields and colors you won't see anywhere else unfolds. It is without doubt one of the most spectacular natural areas in the Canary Islands - and probably in all of Europe.

Pico del Teide - the roof of Spain

The heart of the park is the Pico del Teide, at 3,718 meters the highest mountain in Spain.
Its imposing silhouette can be seen from afar, but up close it is truly breathtaking.
The cable car takes you to just below the summit, where you have views of:

  • Gran Canaria

  • La Palma

  • El Hierro

  • Lanzarote

On clear days, it's like floating above the clouds.

Fields of lava as far as the eye can see

The park is famous for its huge lava fields, created by ancient eruptions.
The black, red and ochre hues form a surreal backdrop reminiscent of Mars or the moon.
You can hike endlessly here on well-marked trails along:

  • petrified lava

  • craters

  • basalt formations

  • bizarre rock structures

The landscape changes constantly: sometimes rugged and dark, sometimes gently rolling with green accents.

Roques de García - iconic rock formations

One of the most beautiful places is Roques de García, a collection of strange and photogenic rock formations near the parador.
Here you walk among towers of solidified lava, jagged pillars and natural sculptures that stand out gracefully against the volcano.
The view from Mirador de la Ruleta is sensational.

Colors & light that exist nowhere else

Teide National Park is known for its almost otherworldly light.
By sunset, the lava fields turn gold, red and copper.
In the blue hour, the world feels cool, mysterious and quiet.
And at night? This is one of the best places in Europe for stargazing - an official Starlight Reserve.

A natural wonder that will make you quiet

Teide National Park is raw, grandiose and fascinating.
Whether you come to hike, photograph, take the cable car or simply enjoy the view, this place will stay with you.

It is one of those rare landscapes that you not only see, but actually feel.
