On the outskirts of the village of Monachil, about a 45-minute drive from Finca del Cielo, lies one of Andalusia's most impressive hiking areas: Los Cahorros.
This gorge - carved by the Río Monachil - is known for its narrow passages, high rock walls, rope bridges and a landscape that feels almost cinematic. It is a hike full of adventure, views and surprises.
The iconic suspension bridge
The most famous point of Los Cahorros is the long, wobbly suspension bridge that connects the two sides of the gorge.
Below you the river flows, beside you the vertical rock walls rise tens of meters.
A unique experience that delights adventurers and photographers alike.
Climbing rock walls & narrow passages
After the suspension bridge, you follow the path along the edge of the gorge.
Sometimes the path runs so close along the rock walls that you have to duck, turn or slide your way a little along the rock. It makes the trail playful and surprising - perfect for those who like a little adventure without making it too technical.
The rock formations are impressive, with overhanging cliffs and dripping vegetation giving the gorge an almost tropical feel.
Rivers, tunnels & serene nature
The trail alternates between shady stretches along the water and sunny viewpoints over the valley. Along the way, you will encounter small waterfalls, caves and green oases.
The coolness of the river makes this a wonderful place to hike even in the warmer months.
