Skakavac – a spectacular natural wonder of water and rock

No stay in the region is complete without a hike to the breathtaking Skakavac Waterfall.

With a free fall of no less than 98 metres, the water plunges here along a sheer limestone wall, creating one of the most impressive and untouched natural spectacles around Sarajevo.

The hike – through age-old forests to the foot of the falls

The hike to the waterfall is an experience in itself: a wonderful route through the protected nature reserve of Nahorevo.
Choose a relaxed walk along the wide forest path to the upper viewpoint, or descend the wooden staircase to the foot of the rock wall to feel the fine mist of the falling water on your face – an invigorating adventure for nature lovers.

Planinski Dom – a resting point at the start of the route

At the start of the hiking area, just above the village of Nahorevo, you'll find the welcoming mountain lodge Planinski Dom Promaja.
Here you can breathe in the fresh mountain air before setting off, enjoy the sweeping view over the valley, and afterwards catch your breath on the terrace surrounded by greenery.

The marked mountain trails start directly from this point, leading you at a relaxed pace deeper into the protected natural monument.
