An eagle's nest

The Walzin Castle is located in Dréhance, now a district of Dinant, in the province of Namur. This neo-Gothic castle sits on a steep rock above the right bank of the Lesse River, just before it flows into the Meuse.

At this strategic point in the Lesse, once a ford, a fortified hilltop castle was already mentioned in the 11th and 12th centuries. This eagle’s nest was destroyed four times from the land. Only the 11th-century keep remains.

The fairytale-like Chateau de Walzin proudly stands atop a steep cliff that rises directly from the Lesse.
