Gole di Fara
The hidden gateway to the Majella

Deep in the heart of the Majella National Park lie the Gole di Fara: spectacular gorges that are among the most beautiful and impressive natural phenomena in Abruzzo. It is a place where nature feels grand and intimate at the same time - a hidden passage that makes you feel as if you are stepping into another world.

Walls that touch the sky

At the entrance to the Vallone di Santo Spirito, the gorges open up into a narrow passage where the rock walls rise up hundreds of meters. So narrow, in fact, that you can almost touch them with outstretched arms. The light filters in, making the colors of the limestone and moss appear even more intense.

The contrast between the narrow passage and the majestic height is breathtaking - every step feels like walking through a natural cathedral.

Nature, silence and ancient energy

The Gole di Fara are known for their ruggedness, but also for their serenity.
The silence is broken only by the sound of running water, wind brushing along the walls and birds nesting among the rocks.

This is the Majella area at its purest: raw, quiet and unspoiled.

Perfect for hikers and nature lovers

Several hiking trails depart from the gorges, ranging from short, accessible walks to more challenging trails toward the high plains of the Majella.
Along the way, you will pass ancient hermitages, panoramas over deep valleys and places where nature still has free rein.
