Le Refuge is a detached chalet hidden among the Ardennes hills near La Roche. Here you will find peace, nature and comfort all in one. The cottage has been sustainably renovated and features a cozy fireplace, open kitchen and sunny terrace overlooking the woods. After a day of hiking or a visit to the medieval town of La Roche (10 minutes' drive) you return to your own piece of paradise in nature.
A refuge in the rhythm of nature
Through the front terrace you step into the bright living room. Here, a comfortable lounge sofa invites you to plop down by the fireplace while enjoying a movie on the smart TV or just the silence of the forest.
The open kitchen adjoins the dining room with an oval table - a warm place to cook, eat and enjoy together. Everything you need is there: an induction cooktop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and even a Dolce Gusto coffee maker. While you cook, you have a view of the greenery outside everywhere.
The chalet has two bedrooms. The first is furnished with a generous double bed and a spacious closet. The second bedroom is ideal for children or friends, with bunk beds: below a double bed (140x200) and above a single bed (90x200). The modern bathroom is located next to the kitchen and offers a spacious rain shower, sink with drawers and toilet.
Around the chalet stretches a woodland garden with lawns, steps and sitting areas. The large terrace at the front is the place for an aperitif or a summer outdoor meal. You can easily park your car along the dirt road, directly under the house.

Your review: We had a wonderful week at le Refuge. Really rested in a quiet, almost silent environment. The road to le Refuge was an experience. For a low model car it is almost impossible to reach the house without damage. The website has beautiful pictures of the house and the interior. Everything shown is there. Her should be said that the ravages of time and user marks have done their work. Wifi was poor. We could not watch a movie together for example. Perhaps this also had to do with the bad weather. For us, the beds were on the soft side. After showering, the septic tank, which was located at the bottom of the cottage, was easy to smell. Again, we had a wonderful week, came to rest in beautiful surroundings. Perhaps some points for improvement here and there.

Very nice cottage in a really beautiful setting. Everything available (basic amenities though) and comfortable and tasteful stay. The path to the cottage is a challenge with a low car though. Lovely hiking, the area of the beavers is really recommended. We enjoyed the total silence and complete darkness. Where do you still experience that!

Fantastic location! Through an earth road you reach the cottage, quietly located in the middle of the forest. Beautiful walks in the region. The chalet is cozy. Wood stove is definitely needed during the colder days and nights. We will definitely come back!

Super vacation, "air de silence", super equipped kitchen
We had a fantastic stay and enjoyed the tranquility and nature!!! Less than 200 m from the cottage there are four beaver dams, unfortunately we were not there at the right hour but apparently the chance is greatest at dusk. The cottage itself is very clean and comfortable. The only thing missing in my opinion is a decent chef's knife for cutting vegetables, otherwise everything was fine!
We had a wonderful stay at Le Refuge with our little dogs. The location of the chalet is in the middle of the woods and about 10 minutes driving distance from La Roche for your shopping and a terrace. If you are looking for peace and quiet, then book this cozy and fully equipped chalet.
Le Refuge is a fairly recently completely rebuilt/renovated chalet. Everything is/feels new; from the cutlery and kitchen to the shower. Nicely detached. I had thought from the pictures myself that it would be a bit larger. Nice spots made for when the sun shines on the back patio. Energy costs were charged separately, I don't recall seeing that listed online. For 4 days I think we lost 20 euros.
This vacation home is in a great location, through every window you look you see nature! So for those who want to unwind then you have come to the right place, nearby there are a lot of walks you can experience. In this cottage there is a lot provided, the wood stove gives a warmth to the cottage. Our only regret was that there were no curtains in the living room. There could also have been information on how the heating in the bedroom worked, because we didn't know how this went either. And the biggest drawback was that the fan in the bathroom was constantly running, therefore you couldn't leave the door open to let the heat go there either. Hopefully the owners will do something about this soon. Other than this I can only recommend it!!!
Very nice and quiet location. And yet within easy reach of the'inhabited world'. The cottage is nicely decorated. On cold days, however, it is necessary to fire up the wood stove to get the inside temperature to an acceptable level.
