Hike Lac Mort
To the top of the Alps

We did this hike on a bright autumn day, when the golden-yellow larches stand out brightly against the aquamarine waters of the dam below. The colors, light and tranquility make this hike special in itself - but the real spectacle begins only once on the way.

A steep climb with great reward

The route rises steeply right away. This is not a hike for absolute beginners, but those who enjoy a challenge will be richly rewarded. With each altitude meter, the landscape changes subtly: first dense forest, then open larch slopes and finally rugged high alps where silence becomes almost tangible.

Above the tree line: pure Alpine beauty

As soon as you leave the tree line behind, lichens, alpine grasslands and rare mountain flora take over. The views become wide and sharp, with panoramas surrounding you from all sides.

Through an ancient settlement to the lakes

Halfway up, you pass a small, centuries-old settlement - a hushed piece of history that contrasts beautifully with the wild nature around it. Not much later, the first mountain lake appears: Lac Long, with its crystal clear water and quiet setting. From there begins the final, short but tough climb to Lac Mort, tucked high between rocks and ridges.

At the top awaits a setting you won't soon forget: icy clear water, wide openness, and the feeling of being literally on the roof of the Alps.
