Le Grand Ménil is a characterful former farmhouse that has been lovingly transformed into a warm and cozy place for families and groups of friends of up to 14 people. Here, in the middle of the Ardennes, everything is about togetherness, tranquility and outdoor life. After a long walk through the rolling countryside, the crackling fire of the fireplace awaits inside, while outside the covered lodge invites long evenings around the wood-burning stove. "Let the adventure begin..."
From farmhouse to cozy vacation home
As soon as you step inside, you feel the charm of old farm life combined with modern comforts. The spacious entrance hall - formerly the stables - offers plenty of space for coats, boots and walking shoes. From here you walk into the large living space, with its whitewashed walls, beautiful granite floor and authentic atmosphere. Four generous Chesterfield sofas sit around the fireplace - the ideal place to relax with a glass of wine after a day in nature. There is a flat-screen TV with Belgacom and wifi .
The dining table invites long dinners and lively conversations. While the fire crackles softly in the second fireplace, you have direct contact with the open kitchen, so cooking and dining flow seamlessly together. The kitchen is fully equipped for large parties: a five-burner stove, oven, large refrigerator with freezer, kettle, filter coffee maker and a Nespresso machine. On the large stainless steel worktop you can effortlessly prepare a dinner for the whole group, while the vintage china cabinet keeps everything within easy reach.
On the second floor are five comfortable bedrooms, each with its own bathroom - a rare luxury plus that ensures privacy and convenience. The rooms are furnished with box-spring beds (80 cm wide, each with single comforter) and natural materials. Three of the rooms have a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. In two of the larger rooms you will also find a loft with extra sleeping places - ideal for families with children or friends traveling together. One of the rooms has a spacious bathroom with a bathtub/shower combination, perfect for those who want to relax after a day of hiking.
And then there's the outdoor space - the beating heart of Le Grand Ménil. From the living space, you walk right into the garden, where old trees provide shade and birds whistle in the background. At the front is a spacious terrace, perfect for breakfast in the morning sun. But the real eye-catcher is the sturdy, covered lodge with wood-burning stove: a robust outdoor space with a large table, comfortable corner for relaxing and a fire pit for cooler evenings. This is where guests typically spend most of their time - with a good glass of wine, grilling BBQ and the soft light of the flames.
Finally, Le Grand Ménil features a spacious sauna (for 6 to 8 people), where you can relax your muscles after an active day in nature. Everything about this house exudes coziness, character and comfort - a place where memories are made, in every season of the year.

Le Grand-Menil is a lovely house that is tastefully decorated. There are so many corners in the garden where you can play, sit in the sun, or isolate yourself to quietly read a book. The large awning with dining table and bbq is where we stayed the most,
until late at night when the little ones were already asleep. We will be back!
What a lovely house in a beautiful place in the Ardennes. Also the spacious garden is really nice, as well as the canopy. The recommended walks in the area were also really worthwhile! Minus point was that the house was not clean, especially very dusty. Cobwebs and dust everywhere (and I do not just mean in the high beams, because that seems logical to me) Also some of the mattresses are clearly in need of replacement (springs felt / very soft). But despite these downsides enjoyed a nice vacation! The communication with Astrid was also very smooth, especially with the constant rebooking due to corona measures. Thank you!!!
A lovely vacation home! We were there for a week as a group and it is nice that there is also enough space to retreat.
There is more than enough of everything, especially crockery.
Only closet space in the bedrooms is limited. There is no washing machine, which is more difficult with a large group and longer stay. However, there may possibly be in the village at the Spar a laundry run for a few euros.
Super nice house where we all definitely want to return.
Very nice weekend, almost always sat outside in the garden or in the "lodge". At 1.5km you have a supermarket, chip shop, pizzeria, pharmacy and bank. Quiet location in a small street. Only downside was that some showers did not work properly.
Beautiful house, spacious and nice that all bedrooms had private bathrooms.
All in all a great home for a group/family vacation.

What a nice cottage this is in a beautiful area say ! The pictures do not do justice to the reality of the cottage. It is much more spacious and beautiful than you saw.
Upon entering immediately a large dining table with an open living room with ample seating and a fireplace. Then to walk from the living room to the kitchen and encounter another large dining table with a second fireplace. Not to mention the hallway with all the bedrooms and each room a separate shower and toilet :-)
And at the end of the corridor a staircase down to the sauna and relaxation room. If you are looking for value for money, Le Grand Menil really comes highly recommended.
Unfortunately, we had the misfortune that the heating failed. Fortunately we had Astrid to help us and in no time the owner was at the door who immediately tried to solve the problem with a bottle of champagne as a sincere apology. This gesture was actually even better than the solution itself, chapeau!!!
It is annoying that we had the coldest weekend of the winter. But with all of us around the fireplace and close together, it was fortunately still cozy until late into the night.
Once back home, Astrid and I had contact via email and with a very generous goodwill arrangement everything was solved. Definitely worth to book again or one of the accommodations they have in rental. Thanks again Astrid (Would you also pass this on to the owner), also for the help with our perilous adventure on an icy path down which we could not get back up.

Beautiful surroundings. There was snow, so we had beautiful walks. Very nice house. Pity was that the house was obviously not heated for too long and so we did not get it cosy warm the first evening, despite thick clothing. Nevertheless, highly recommended!
Group of 13 adults. Large house with a spacious sitting area and dining area. Well equipped kitchen with a gas fire, large oven, dishwasher, nespresso and large refrigerator. The fireplace makes it cozy. Firewood is of good quality so it is best to bring kindling because otherwise you can't get it lit. Upstairs 5 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. In our bedroom unfortunately there was no blackout/curtain so slept very badly with the street lights. There is a spacious sauna followed by a bathroom where you can shower. Outside a large garden and covered terrace. We had bad weather so no use of it but in summer certainly an added value. The thermostat you can not set yourself and with the cold weather still had some complaints in the group. Thermostat was set at 19 ° C and that's just not cozy sitting. For the rest had a super weekend. House comes highly recommended!!! To avoid confusion for other guests, mattresses are so 80x200cm and comforters are 140x200cm. Astrid responds quickly to questions.
Beautiful house, spacious and in quiet area. There were 11 of us, 3 parent couples and 5 children ages 6 to 11. The downstairs is modern with long tables to eat and play at. The room is spacious with TV and fireplace. There are more than enough bedrooms with all showers and toilet in the rooms. The kitchen is modern and spacious with plenty of cooking utensils. The garden is both sunny and shaded and there is room for outdoor games. We played a lot of badminton and evenings stoked the wood fire . We did not use the outdoor shed much as it is rather dark and the weather was sunny so it was not inviting. By car a number of attractive amenities such as hiking, biking and boating can be reached within half an hour. We enjoyed spending a week together in the cottage.

Nice cottage to share cozy and sporty moments ! Outdoor lounge is a cozy surplus, be careful if you make fire .... the fireplace did not work there and all the smoke was blown back ... but without this given a cozy place to stay outside with all.
